Evenground
Accessibility
Evenground is meant for anyone going through a hard moment, and that includes people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or other assistive technology. This page explains how the website is built with that in mind and how to tell me if something gets in your way.
1The Standard
The website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referred to by accessibility laws in Canada, the United States and the European Union.
The site was last checked on 7 November 2026, with an automated checker (axe) on every page in light and dark mode, by hand with a keyboard only, and at a narrow 320-pixel width, which is how a page looks zoomed to 400%.
2What the Site Does
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link at the start of each page.
- Images have text descriptions, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text and controls meet the WCAG contrast ratios in both light and dark mode.
- Pages keep working when text is enlarged up to 200% or the browser is zoomed to 400%.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, animations are switched off. Nothing on the site flashes, and no animation starts and keeps moving on its own.
- The site has no audio or video, so nothing needs captions. The breathing exercise is shown as text inside the circle as well as by its movement, and screen readers announce each step (“Inhale”, “Exhale”) as it happens.
- Form fields are labelled, and errors are described in words and announced.
3Known Limitations
- The contact form on the Support page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to stop spam. It is made by a third party and usually completes on its own, but if it ever stops you, write to [email protected] instead. Email reaches the same inbox.
- In the “At my own pace” breathing pattern, the space bar controls the breath. Some screen readers use the space bar themselves; if yours does, choose any of the other patterns, which run on their own.
4The App
The Evenground app is built to work with VoiceOver, follows the text size you set on your iPhone, and gives every button a tap area of at least 44 points. If something in the app does not work with the way you use your phone, please let me know in the same way.
5Report a Barrier
If any part of this website or the app is hard to use, or does not work with your assistive technology, please tell me. Say which page and what happened, and, if you like, what you use (for example, VoiceOver on an iPhone). I aim to reply within five business days, and to send you the information you were after in a form that works for you in the meantime.
Email [email protected], or use the form on the Support page.
